All In: Sing Like Nobody’s Listening

In August of 2018, Yonge Guns embarked on an ambitious journey to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe! In truth, that journey began in October of 2017 when we became aware of a conflict that wouldn’t allow us to compete in the Barbershop Harmony Society’s international contest in Orlando in July. From there we co-ordinated with our venues, found flights, accommodation, and got to work trying to make it a worthwhile experience. Little did we know what was in store.

Our annual show made it to 3 Ontario cities in 2018. Stopping in Hamilton, Peterborough, and Toronto, as well as a special performance at Harmony Ranch, we prepared vigorously for the Edinburgh Fringe! The warmth and support we felt from our audiences was beyond what we could have expected, exemplifying the true meaning of harmony.

The Edinburgh Fringe, for those that don’t know, is a huge independent arts festival with acts ranging from comedians to musical theatre shows. We were very fortunate to be put in touch with the SpaceTriplex Studio venue. Well-versed in hosting a cappella groups, the staff acted as incredible hosts and the opportunities afforded to us to see and support other groups within the venue were fantastic. We brought a high energy show that included songs from our newly released CD, as well as a couple of new ones. It was 45 minutes of non-stop fun, inspired by our collective 99 years alive.

We loved going All In and opening up to new audiences from around the world!
